Bad Weather

When can the ticket holder cancel their order?

We want to make sure everyone on the vessel feels like they are getting the best possible quality out of the experience.  Motor Vessel Bay Mutt holds 6 paying passengers, and we need to operate with a minimum amount of guests aboard to make our low-price business model work. That means that we cannot cancel your purchase without good reason and without fair warning. The following are the guidelines we will follow when decising on if we can offer complete redunds or vessel credits:

  • One Month before Departure: 100% Refund
  • Two Weeks or more before departure: 100% Credit or 50% Refund (good for any future voyages)
  • A week to two weeks before departure: 50% Credit (good for any future voyage)
  • Less than a week before depature: zero refund, zero credit.

Bad Weather

When are trips canceled due to Bad Weather? How is bad weather defined? Who makes he judgement call?

San Francisco Bay is known for heavy winds, ripping currents, fog, rain, and chilly conditions - none of these things by themselves are neccesarily considered Bay Weather - if they were, there would be no commerical boat businesses here.  For our purposes, "Bad Weather" is a conditioned, or highly probably condition that interferes with our ability to have fun, stay safe, and meet our voyage goals on the water. The following are conditions when "Bad Weather" will cancel the trip:

  • Lighting or High Chance of Lighting
  • Winds in access of 25kts sustained
  • Fog and wind in access of 15kts sustained
  • Seas over 3'
  • Any conditions that close the exterior decks, for safety reasons, for more than 50% of the underway time.
  • Dense vessel traffic and Restricted Visability
  • Unforecasted Tidal Concerns (extreme low tides)
  • Tsunami warning

What happens if Epic Bay cancels the voyage?

We will issue refunds if the voyage is cancelled due to Bad Weather. 

Due to the ever changing and quickly changing conditions of the San Francisco Bay, voyages may be cancelled within 24 hours of a trip. If this happens, we will offer a complete refund, plus a 25% off future voyage voucher.

Late to Boarding Policy - there are no late boardings

Like all boat businesses, we rely on strict schedules for boarding and landings - we share our customer boarding dock with other vessels, and we are all on a shcedule. Likewise, the vessel has other paying passengers aboard. If you are late, and the vessel has already left the dock, we cannot come back to pick you up, you are not eligible for a refund or credit. We highly recommend you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to boarding - to find parking and find the location of the boarding dock.
